Week 37 Highlights

How are we already at the last week of school?? Time surely flies when we’re having fun! We’ve had lots of fun this past week celebrating our year full of learning and playing together!

Kindergarten Countdown: The end of the year is approaching so quickly…I can’t even imagine saying goodbye to this incredible class, but I wanted to make our last few days together as special as possible! We are counting down to the end of kindergarten by spelling it out. Each day, we pop a balloon to find out about a special activity, treat, or reward for the day. When we pop the last balloon in the word “kindergarten,” our class will be ready to go to first grade! Here’s the fun we’ve had so far:

K is for Kick off Your Shoes! No shoes for the day.

I is for Ink pens! Kindergarteners got to write with their own pen all day and even take it home with them.

N is for New Names! Each kindergartener got to pick a brand new name to be called for the entire day. What a hilarious time we had in the classroom trying to remember everyone’s new names!

D is for Drawing! We did quite a few drawing projects today as a wrap-up for our year…scrapbook pages for Miss Hutchison, some additional crafts, drawing with chalk, and more!

E is for Enjoying Treats! To wrap up our opinion writing unit, and to celebrate our countdown day, we tried two fun treats: bubble gum and Oreos. Miss Hutchison tried to teach our kiddos how to blow bubbles, which was hilarious to watch! Then, we tested out different flavors of Oreos and voted for our personal favorites before we wrote an opinion page about our favorite kinds of Oreos.

R is for Recess and Relays! We were planning to have extra recess for this day, BUT it rained all day long. So, our class decided to have extra play time instead!

G is for Games! We played games all morning long during our kindergarten olympics. Thank you so much to our parent volunteers for helping make this event go off without a hitch!!  You can see lots of pictures from our Olympic Games here.

Mystery Reader: Claire’s dad and sister came to surprise our class as this week’s mystery readers! Thanks so much for visiting our classroom and reading with us!!

Butterflies: We released our butterflies last Monday, and it was BEAUTIFUL! The class loved watching each butterfly as it flew out into the world!

NOTES FOR PARENTS:

Things Coming Home: With only 2 and a half days left in the school year, your child’s backpack will likely be full every day this week with gym shoes, books, pictures, class keepsakes, and more!! Keep a special eye out for a LARGE MANILA FOLDER…this will have all of the important papers for you! I’ll post more about this folder later this week.

  • Wednesday, June 5 – Music
  • Thursday, June 6 – P.E.
